Nigeria Super Eagles are set for a cracker match against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa in CAF Group C 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualification.
The encounter billed for a kick off by 8 pm Nigerian time, will be played at Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State today.
Super Eagles Coach, Finidi George at a pre-match Press Conference yesterday evening in Uyo, said that all players are in good shape to do their best and move on to qualify for the FIFA World Cup.
He said that the players arrived early and have a good time to train together in Uyo ahead of the encounter.
“I am confident in our capacity and what we will do on the field. We are going for victory, All hands are deck.
“We are featuring quality players that have the capacity of playing and adding value to what we want to do. We are ready to qualify” Mr. George stated. On his part, the Coach of South Africa, Hugo Broos said his players made good appearance against Algeria at the just concluded AFCON, therefore would give the Super Eagles a tough match.
“We played a very good game against Algeria, and I believe we will win Nigeria. Everyone in South Africa is believing in us to win because of our performances in AFCON.
The South African team, Bafana Bafana touched down Uyo via Victor International Airport amidst heavy downpour yesterday afternoon and had thier first training by 8pm in Uyo.
To cheer the players to victory, Super Eagles Supporters Club, Akwa Ibom State Chapter has intensified preparations for the match.
They came together for a meeting at Uyo Township Stadium on Wednesday in the presence of National PRO – Mr.Toye and National Financial Secretary – Mr Fred.
Meanwhile, tickets to access the Godswill Akpabio Stadium for the match today are free as the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has graciously procured all match tickets for free distribution to all Akwa Ibom indigenes and residents nay all football enthusiasts across the country.
Governor Eno, a frontline supporter of the Super Eagles, therefore urged the people to come out in vast numbers to cheer the Super Eagles to victory, while also appealing for orderly conduct and a showcase of the renowned hospitality of Akwa Ibom people to our visitors.
The Governor, who announced this through a press statement today, signed by the Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Sir Monday Ebong Uko, wished the Super Eagles a resounding victory and looks forward to a thrilling match.
This development came after the NFF’s Head of Marketing and Sponsorship, Mr. Alizor Chuks, had announced the sells of tickets for N3k for VIP and N1k popular stands from yesterday Thursday.
According to him, tickets would go on sale at a number of designated points including Comfort FM Radio Station (Ikot Akpanabia), Inspiration FM Radio Station (Udo Udoma Street), Memories FM Radio Station (Ernest Bassey Street), De-Choice Shopping Mall, as well as a number of fuel stations and eateries that will be announced later in the day.
The objective is to have as many sales points as possible away from the stadium, and ensure that sales are concluded by Friday evening before the game commences.
