2023: We Regret Decamping Of Ayade, Ita Giwa, Others From PDP – Atiku

The Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, has regretted the exit of Governor Ben Ayade, Senator Bassey Otu, Senator John Owan Enoh, Senator Ndoma Egba, Senator Ita Giwa and a host of others to the All Progressives’ Congress (APC).

He made this observation while addressing party supporters at U.J.Esune.Stadium.

The former Vice President said categorically that Cross River has been a PDP state since 1999 and has won all Presidential and governorship elections in the state thereafter.

Atiku  commended Cross River State PDP for their support and loyalty and assured that the party if elected, will dredge the Calabar Port and link it to the proposed Calabar/Port Harcourt railway line.

Speaking, former governor of the state l, Senator Liyel Imoke who is Deputy Director – General Operations of PDP, disclosed that despite the exit of the governor and others to the APC the state remains a PDP state.

According to him, “no other party has won elections in the state and urged the people not to bother about the defection of the governor and others to the APC”.

Also, a member of the presidential campaign Council Senator Gershom Bassey,  urged the people not to be worried, saying, “since the inception of the present democratic dispensation,  PDP hasn’t lost any presidential election in the state.”

The rally saw the absence of the PDP governorship candidate Senator Sandy Onor, Ntufam Ekpo Okon the Senatorial candidate, Rt. Hon Essien Ekpeyong Ayi among other party party faithful alleged to be loyalist to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.
