As the steam continues to gather for the 2023  elections in the country with many contenders pushing to represent their constituencies, Engineer Philip Ugbomah, a Civil Engineer, and a former Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has volunteered himself to be elected into the Delta State House of Assembly for the good of the people of Ndokwa East State Constituency.
Engineer Ugbomah, who prefers to be referred to as the bricklayer, stated this on Saturday April 16, 2022 in Asaba when he consulted with elders and leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Ndokwa East to intimate them of his preparedness to represent the people of the constituency come 2023.
The meeting which was held at the home of the leader of the party in the area, Chief Godswill Obelium, attracted some of the known leaders of the party, such as Rt. Honourable Olise Imeagwu, Mr. Charles Olise, Mr. Azuka Ossai and others.
Addressing the elders and leaders, Engineer Ugbomah promised to be a good representative of the people of the constituency if given the opportunity.
He said that his desire is to bring development to the people of Ndokwa East, through collaboration with the various agencies and departments of government in conjunction with the executive arm of government and not to contend any leadership position of the party with the leaders and elders in the local government area.
“I am in this race not because I want to be a leader, as I am aware of the leadership structure of the party, but as a servant leader who will be sent on this errand to do the bid for the collective interest of our people,” he said.
Engr. Ugbomah stated that his approach for effective representation of the people if given the ticket of the party and voted in, he will take a different approach to solving the problems of the area, rather than continue to dwell on the problems.
He stressed that the next legislator to represent the area should be the one that is capable to engage with the executive, assimilate the situation on ground, and ability to put together the needs of the people, and to go all out to actualise the plans.
He told the leaders that he does not know it all, but he has the variable tools that if nominated, and finally elected,  will be a collective system for the collective needs of the people of the area.
“My approach to represent the people if given the ticket, I will take a different approach to solving the problems of our people, rather than continue to dwell on problems. And the legislator to do this should be one that is capable of engaging  the executive, assimilating the situation on ground and should have the ability to put together our needs and work for the actualization of such needs.
“I am not saying I know all, but I have the variable tools that if given the opportunity, and elected I will be a collective system for our collective needs,” he said.
