Presidential candidate of Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi, on Tuesday, asked Nigerians to see beyond tribalism in choosing their leaders in the 2023 general elections.

Mr Obi stated this in Ile Ife while speaking at the Ile Oodua palace during a visit to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi in his palace.

The Labour Party Presidential candidate said Nigerians should not vote for him for being an Igbo man rather they should vote for him because he is competent.

According to the former Anambra Governor, the time has come for  Nigerians to see beyond tribalism in choosing their leaders, saying,

Nigerians should choose a better future for themselves through voting the right set of leaders.

“To the Nigerian youths, it is now your turn to take this country from them, choose the right leader that would take the country to its promised Land. It is your title, Nobody is entitled to take it from you, if they give you money, take it, they are only paying parts of their debt”, he said

Mr Obi added, ” Nobody should vote for me because am an Ibo man, Southeasterner or because of my religion. There is no tribe where people are eating free food, buying bread cheaper or exempted from the excruciating hardship currently being experienced in the land.”

The Labour Party Presidential candidate expressed happiness to

the Ooni for the warm reception accorded him .

Receiving the Labour Party Presidential candidate, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi lauded Mr. Peter Obi for making youth development the thrust of his agenda adding that it is obligatory for any society seeking greatness to prioritise youth development and capacity building

“Right from my first day as the Ooni I openly dedicated this revered throne to the youth population and I have been matching the promise up with actions in form of programs and several initiatives geared towards empowering our youths because they are our future”, he said.
