Youth of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Kaduna North Federal Constituency have accused Member House of Reps, Samaila Suleiman of playing the role of a fifth columnist to sabotage chances of the party ahead 2023 general election.
In a statement, spokesman of the group, Isa Dutse alleged that Suleiman defected to the opposition party in the state to sabotage efforts of sincere and dedicated members of the party in ensuring victory at the 2023 polls.
Dutse pointed out that the two-term federal legislator is yet to announce his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC), on the floor of the House, adding that Suleiman is still maintaining sitting position within the ranks of the ruling party, an action he stated, runs contrary to rules of the National Assembly.
” Samaila Suleiman contested and won election on the platform of APC in 2015 and 2019 respectively, a party he said he has fallen out of favour with and decided to join our party.
” We wouldn’t have doubted the sincerity of Suleiman if he had joined our party long before political activities of 2023 began.
” It is obvious he has a clandestine and bad motive of joining our party at this crucial time of preparation for 2023 general election.
” He has been throwing money around to bribe delegates and PDP officials in Kaduna North to get the party’s ticket at the detriment of loyal members who have remained committed and truthful to the cause of the party in the constituency despite mouthwatering offers from the ruling APC in the state.
” He is busy giving out millions of naira to party principal officers who as delegates will play decisive role in who emerges flag bear of our great party at the primary election.
” It is a public knowledge he has given out one million Naira to each ward chairman of PDP across 12 wards, Making a total of 12 million Naira to buy their conscience.
” Another 70 million Naira was alleged to have been given by him within one week to party bigwigs in Kaduna State to smoothen his way up to the party’s primary election.
” Money he should have used to provide dividends of democracy to his constituents is being wasted on individuals to buy their allegiance.
” Such a person will not work for the good and development of his people if he eventually becomes their representative.
” He will first of all focus on recouping the money spent on bringing party officials.
” Such a person cannot be relied upon and trusted with our party ticket.
” We therefore, call on our respectable delegates not to mortgage the future of our children by allowing themselves to be deceived and bought over by a man who will abandon our collective goals and aspirations of a better future for our children, ” he pleaded. .
