You can’t afford to hand over the party to someone who does not know the party or even the colour of the flag, the same way you must not hand over the state to someone who does not know the problems of the state.
Sir Emem Akpabio, a frontline politician in Akwa Ibom State expressed this in Oron Local Government Area during a consultative visit of a governorship aspirant, Senator Bassey Albert Akpan a.k.a OBA to the stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the area over the weekend.
Akpabio, who is the Chairman of Akwa UbokAbasi Campaign Organisation, a political campaign platform for the actualisation of Senator Akpan 2023 governorship’s aspiration, urged the stakeholders to embrace the Akwa UbokAbasi project as he has developed a roadmap that will enhance development of the area.
He also stressed the reasons for the entire state to support Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency to produce the Governor of the state in 2023, to promote equity in the polity.
Akpabio said it will be great injustice to the people of Itu Ibiono Ibom federal constituency, whom he said have not had such an opportunity and may not in another three decades if they are not supported to produce the Governor in 2023.
Also speaking, Dr Ime Ekpeyong, affirmed that with Senator Bassey Akpan as the next governor, Oro Nation will not be sidelined in all spheres neither be disappointed. He highlighted the benefits the people will derive from supporting Sen. OBA.
Ekpenyong further commended Sen. OBA for his leadership in different political offices he occupied. His word “We admire your humility. In fact, we are amazed at the level of your humility despite all your achievements”, adding that as a “homeboy”,  OBA knows the problems of the people”.
Responding, the leading governorship hopeful, Sen. Akpan pointed out that, specific issues like Maritime University, agro-allied industries, oil producing status, Ibaka Deep Seaport, dualised road from Uyo to Okobo as core concerns of Oro people and promised to adequately address them.
He said, “anyone who aspires to lead a state like Akwa Ibom, with its enormous potentials, should be able to specifically tell the people detailed and achievable projects he has for them”.
New Nigerian observed other highlights at the event to include the opened declaration of support to OBA governorship ambition by the Oro stakeholders who also prayed for his success to emerge the next Governor of Akwa Ibom state in 2023.
