One of the APC caucus in Jigawa State has predicted the failure and collapse of the ruling party in retaining the state come 2023 gubernatorial elections.
Alh. Shehu Doko lamented that the unfortunate incidence if allowed to persist without taking positive steps towards mending all inter- party disputes, poor governance, there is tendency they may lose Jigawa State to the main oppositon People’s Democratic Party (PDP.
Doko attributed poor performance of the party’s leadership in the last eight years to Governor Badaru’s “self styled dictatorial governance.”
Investigations revealed that such a situation has prompted the falling apart amongst the high ranking party chieftains and Governor Badaru, who are always against his regimental administration, a situation which has created deep division in Jigawa APC into factions due to divergent views and assumption’s.
Such divergent thoughts following perceived disagreements between the state governor, Alhaji Muhammadu Badaru Abubakar amongst other party’s stakeholders, pose huge threat to the party’s chances.
One of the stakeholders was quoted as saying, “quite often, we tried to call the governor to order in an attempt in getting things right on the right perspectives for the better, but to no avail.”
One of the chieftains, Alh Isa Gerawa in a secret meeting with people suspected to be APC caucus in a video clip which went viral recently on the Social Media, were alleged to have accused Governor Badaru of awarding himself most of the juicy contracts in the state using non indigenes mostly non Muslims as fronts the imbroglio which led to accusation and counter accusation from the camps of the two former allies.
They also accused the governor of poor performance, distortion of the state’s public institutions in denial of adequate running cost, among other operational logistics for transparency and good governance.
A caucus member, Alh. Gerawa who is also a major APC sponsor in Jigawa State and the Chairman of Gerawa Group of Companies, was alleged to have some misgivings over the choice of the APC deputy governorship candidate in person of Umar Namadi.
The fear is that if he is elected in the 2023 general election, it may not allow the trend to continue for his business relationship with the state government.
Speaking on the issue of contracts, he said it was unfortunate that the contracts are being awarded to contractors who cannot help the people of the state.
“For four years, I have not received a penny (contract) from Jigawa Government. If you see me sharing money, I got it from other places but my Zenith Bank account where I am receiving payment from Jigawa has not received a penny in four years.
Gerawa is alleged to be the godfather to the APC governorship candidate, Malam Umar Danmodi who emerged against the wish of the governor.
All efforts to reach either the Jigawa State APC Chairman, Hon. Sani Gumel, or the political adviser to Governor Badaru, Hon. Maikudi MK for further reactions, proved abortive.
