2023: It’s Not Hate Speech, Fake News Or Thuggery That Make Contestants Victorious – Gov Bala

Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has counseled political parties, candidates and their supporters to note that it is not the amount of money, hate speech, fake news or political thuggery that would make contestants to emerge victorious during the elections.

According to the governor, the trio must conduct themselves according to the rules of the game, as contest for elective offices should not be seen as a do or die affair, bearing in mind that it is God Almighty that gives power to whoever He likes.

Senator Bala Mohammed in a message to the people of the state marking the 62nd Independence anniversary celebration, appealed to the people to rededicate themselves to the country, be patriotic and continue to pray to Almighty God to shower his mercy and blessings on all to live in peace with one another and make Bauchi and Nigeria great.

“We are fast approaching the 2023 general elections, and the ban on electioneering campaigns for the Presidential and National Assembly elections has been lifted by the electoral umpire, INEC.  I would therefore like to call all political parties, their candidates and supporters to conduct themselves in an orderly manner”.

The Governor also called on Nigerians generally to reflect on the struggle and sacrifice of the nation’s founding fathers and strive to ensure that their labour shall not be in vain, saying, they have sixty-two after independence belied the skepticism on their ability to govern themselves.

He emphatically said, “Today, we have shown to the world that we are not only able to govern ourselves, but are able to understand our differences, respect each other’s values and unite towards developing our country despite our diverse cultures”.

Mohammed recalled that Nigeria, like many other countries, has in the process of its growth experienced a lot of turbulence in the last 62 years, as the country suffered serious setbacks in the political arena which seriously affected its political and economic growth.

Governor Bala explained that his administration has been constructing rural and urban roads network across the state with some on-going while most of them completed and put to use, adding several other projects have also been executed in the areas of education, health, housing, agriculture, water and power supply and poverty alleviation.

On spate of insecurity blowing across the country in the form of banditry, kidnapping and other violent crimes, the governor said that as responsible and responsive government in Bauchi, the PDP administration in collaboration with security agencies has taken measures to protect the lives and property of its people.

Mohammed said however that the state government is not unmindful of the present hardship being experienced as a result of the downturn in the nation’s economy, and therefore assured the people that palliative measures would continue to be taken with a view to cushioning the effect of the hardships on the people.

He assured that government would in addition seek other means and ways of improving the socio-economic condition of the generality of the people of the state through collaboration with public spirited organizations and individuals, stressing that with the support, understanding and cooperation of the people, the hardships shall be overcome.
