As Nigerians are now looking ahead to the general elections, the
Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Oyo State, Dr. Rahman Adeniran has hinted that the commission is set to conduct a credible election in 2023.
The INEC REC dropped this hint in Ibadan, when he paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Commandant in Oyo state, CC Michael Adaralewa at the Command State Headquarters, Agodi.
Dr Adeniran pointed out that there is no going back in the commission readiness to conduct a hitch free and generally acceptable general elections during the forthcoming polls in 2023.
The INEC REC maintained that in making the 2023 general elections a huge success the commission has embarked on necessary sensitization programme for the electorates nationwide as a way of getting Nigerians well prepared for the general elections.
The REC then solicited for the support of the Oyo state Command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) ” before, during and after the general elections in 2023″.
Seeking continual support from Oyo NSCDC command in protection of INEC office, election equipment, personnels and other materials meant for the coming general elections, Dr Adeniran sensitized the Oyo NSCDC Command on how the BVAS that will be used during the election works.
Receiving the INEC REC , the Oyo state NSCDC Commandant, CC Michael Adaralewa expressed the command readiness to support INEC, saying it was part of National Assets which NSCDC has mandate to protect
The NSCDC Commandant also assured Dr Adeniran of the Corps commitment to provide 24hours security coverage at the INEC office both at the State Headquarters and local government areas respectively.
CC Adaralewa however commended the INEC REC for the visit despite little time available before the general elections,
