Presidential Aspirant of People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Peter Obi has pledged to make Nigeria a manufacturing hub if elected in the forthcoming 2023 general election.
Obi was in Kaduna as part of vote seeking tour of delegates of PDP who would be deciding fate of elective positions at party’s primaries slated for end of May 2023.
He promised to end the nation’s dependency on imports, comparing  the country’s annual export of 30 billion with Vietnam’s 300 billion, a country three times smaller than Nigeria, describing it as very meagre and shameful for a nation of over 200 millon people.
The former Anambra Governor lamented what he described as sorry situation of Kaduna and other states in the North-West Geopolitical Zone, ravaged by banditry, blaming the ruling party for plunging the country into chaos and confusion which he noted were avoidable.
Obi said he was a trader at a very tender age, adding that he possesses the needed qualities of turning bad ventures into prosperous businesses, urging delegates of the PDP to count on him for a better future for Nigeria’s population.
“If any aspirant comes to you with money bags to buy your votes, take the money because it is yours and don’t vote him.
“This is a very crucial time for our country, We can’t afford to mortgage the future and lives of our children by voting in corrupt and ineptitude leaders who have nothing to offer.
“We must take back our country in 2023 to fix all the wrongs and reboot our beautiful nation on the path of economic progress, Political development and National rebirth, ” he said.
Obi said he decided to pay homage to the  tomb of First Republic Prime Minister, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa in Bauchi, because of the tremendous respect he had for the First Republic’s Head of Government.
” Late Tafawa Balewa built Kanji Dam which is still serving the country with a loan of 82 million Naira only.
“Unfortunately today, we have a government that takes loan almost on monthly basis with nothing to show for it.
“It is bad that All Progressives Congress (APC) has plunged us into the worst indebtedness of over 58 trillion in our history.
“We shall make Nigeria an export nation, away from a borrowing country the APC has turned it to,”  he pledged.
