*one shot, others injured

It was confusion galore at Labiran Junction area in Ibadan on Tuesday, as suspected political hoodlums attacked some members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during a mass rally/street walk for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu/ Kasheem Shetima Presidential ambition .
It was learnt that the APC members led by the party’s governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin and other APC candidates for the 2023 general elections were on the mass rally to garner support for the party in the coming general elections.
Sources said trouble started when some suspected political hoodlums in over 11 vehicles led by a light green SUV, reportedly intercepted the APC members at Labiran junction around 1:20pm, shooting into the air as well as launching a physical attack on them.
Sources said during the attack, a young man was reportedly shot by the suspected political hoodlums leaving scores of the APC members injured, while scampering for safety on hearing the sound of the gunshots
Our Correspondent gathered that the said victim of the gunshot and others with machete cuts inflicted on them by the attackers, were later rushed to nearby hospital for medical attention.
Reacting to the attack, APC governorship candidate in Oyo State, Senator Teslim Folarin described it as the ” height of lawlessness, brigandage and provocation capable of heightening tension in the state”.
The APC governorship candidate in a statement personally signed by him, alleged the Oyo State Chairman of the Motor Park Management System, (PMS) of spearheading the attack,
Senator Folarin said it was unbelievable that when Nigerians are celebrating emergence of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu / Kashim Shettima as the flag bearer and running mate of the ruling party for the 2023 presidential election, some hoodlums were planning to disrupt the peaceful rally.
According to Senator Folarin, despite several warnings by members of the APC to the PMS leader, he was hell bent on fomenting troubles, saying he was surprised that the PMS leader could attack APC “members from behind when he knew the candidates were in the front.
“I’ve just been informed that hoodlums led by Lamidi Auxiliary have launched coordinated attacks on our APC members and support groups.Auxiliary personally led the attacks at Iyana Labiran enroute Oje in Ibadan. As peaceful and law-abiding citizens, we won’t take laws into our hands. To this end, I call on the law enforcement agencies to do the needful.” he said
Senator Folarin added, “not minding the deadly attacks on our members by agents of darkness, we’re continuing our walk for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu/Kashim Shettima. The injured members are receiving treatments at an undisclosed hospital.”
The APC mega rally/street walk kicked off at Oke-Ado, Ibadan APC office and proceeded to Molete to Bere to Agodi Gate to Mokola to Dugbe and berthed at Oke-Ado APC office , with scores of Tinubu/Shettima T-shirt wearing supporters.
