2023: Engage In Aggressive Advocacy On Women Involvement In Governance In Nigeria, Minister Tasks Stakeholders

Minister of Women Affairs, Dame Pauline Tallen on Thursday tasked stakeholders to engage in aggressive advocacy on women involvement in governance in Nigeria.
Dame Tallen made the call in Ibadan while speaking at the Medical Women Association biennial Conference, in Ibadan.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Oyo state Ministry of Women Affairs, Mrs Christiana Abioye , the Minister disclosed that this became necessary as the 2023 general elections is around the corner. 
” As we aspire for improved women political participation in Nigeria, it is pertinent to state that the theme for this year’s conference” Leadership, Governance and Women’s Health was carefully selected”, she said.
Dame Tallen added, ” as you are aware, 2023 election is around the corner, and as a result, there is urgent need for stakeholders to engage in aggressive advocacy on Women involvement in governance”,
” The Beijing platform for Action includes a strong statement calling for all governments to ensure women’s equal access to and full participation in power structures and leadership positions”
She stressed then charged the association not to relent in its good work towards addressing Nigerian women’s health needs
” In addition to our joint efforts towards increasing Nigerian women’s political participation, it is also important for us to remember that a healthy is a healthy leader. On this note, I call on this noble association not to relent in your good work towards addressing Nigerian women’s health needs”.
