The Alogo ethnic group under the aegis of the Alago APC Forum, has adopted Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule and his Deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, as their sole candidates ahead of the 2023 general election.
The Alago APC Forum made this known while on a courtesy call at the Government House in Lafia.
Hon. David Ayewa, leader of the group, said the Alago people saw the need to openly throw their support behind Engineer Sule and his Deputy, following the unprecedented achievements so far recorded under their stewardship.
“Following the unprecedented achievements, recorded so far under your stewardship, the Alago APC Forum, which was formed four years ago, have found you worthy and hereby pass a vote of confidence on Your Excellency and your Deputy, under a joint ticket of the APC.
“We are here gathered today, in your presence to adopt you Your Excellencies as sole candidate and your running mate for this election. We will not have any other candidate other than you,” the group stated.
The Alago APC Forum commended the Governor for the giant development strides recorded under his dynamic leadership, especially in the areas of security, infrastructural development, investment opportunities, health care delivery, education, agriculture, youth empowerment among others.
The group particularly commended the Governor for his guiding principles, transparency, accountability and prudent management of public resources, in addition to his philosophy of continuity demonstrated through the completion of projects initiated by previous administrations.
The group further acknowledged that, one of the major priority of the administration, is the sustenance of the security architecture of the state, which is cardinal to the development aspirations of the people.
“This is evident in your proactiveness, doggedness, resilience and commitment, in prompt response to security situations. This endeavour has significant impact which made our people to sleep with their two eyes closed and to also engage in the business of their livelihoods. With that, we were able to harvest lots of crops last year,” Hon Ayewa said.
Hon Ayewa used the opportunity of visit, to appeal to the Governor to extend his laudable interventions in agriculture, as according to him, all Alago lands have comparative advantage and are rich in potentials suitable for the cultivation of both arable and cash crops. Such as beniseed, groundnut, maize, guinea corn, millet, cassava, cashew nut, melon among others.
The Alago APC Forum assured the Governor of their unflinching support in the collective commitment to deliver the APC at the forthcoming general election.
In his response, Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, appreciated the key role the Alago nation continue to play in his administration, starting from the position of the Deputy Governor, to the two ambassadors in the state, commissioner, permanent secretaries, head of service, heads of other MDAs, special advisers, special assistants, among others.
Engineer Sule used the opportunity to admonish them to remain tolerant of each other as political activities heighten across the country.
“Alago nation has been known as a people who are intelligent, educated, experienced and people who are definitely not hooligans. You should not allow a few who chose to be hooligans to destroy the Alago nation,” he said.
While urging Alago politicians to go and seek support from the people, the Governor however appealed to the people to only elect politicians with known records of achievements.
He cautioned the electorate against selling their votes for money, stressing that once they are swayed with money politics, development ultimately suffers.
“If you decide to sell your votes, we can never see the development that we expected to see.
“We should look at the record of politicians, the kind of offices they held in the past, what they have done to us, what is it exactly they can boost of? Those are the kinds of politicians that we should bring in,” he said.
The governor emphasized that if the people support politicians purely based on what they can offer them, then development has also ended right there because of what they have given them.
He equally pleaded with politicians against taking thugs who may disrupts activities during the coming primaries of the party, adding that screening exercises should be carried out under conducive atmosphere.
