The paramount ruler of Atyap in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Agwatyap, Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya, has appealed for restraint, complete and total cessation of hostilities, calm and forgiveness following attacks in the Chiefdom leading to the loss of lives and destruction of property.
He noted that the cessation of the hostilities, calm and forgiveness would allow peace to reign in the Chiefdom.
Briefing newsmen on Tuesday on attacks in his Chiefdom, the paramount ruler said, “I appeal for restrain, complete and total cessation of hostilities, calm and forgiveness in order to allow peace reign in the Chiefdom.”
The Atyap Chiefdom has for the past two weeks witnessed attacks by suspected Fulani militias in about 12 villages leading to the loss of lives, destruction of houses, cars, motorcycles, destruction of crops in farmlands and many others.
According to the paramount ruler, “You may recall that in the past two weeks, several villages have suffered attacks that have led to loss of many lives and properties in my Chiefdom with many of my people languishing in Internally Displaced People’s camps. These attacks have brought about untold and unjustifiable hardship to my people.
“This is most unfortunate and very painful to me despite our collective sacrifices and the peace initiative I personally brokered. However, I must commend the Atyap Chiefdom Peace and Security Partnership Committee, Atyap Chiefdom Council Members and elders, the Military and paramilitary agencies, District Heads, Village Heads and the Youth for toeing the part of peace and working tirelessly to ensure that the situation did not get worse. I urge that this be sustained.”
He assured that he is open to receiving and addressing all manner of complaints, and most especially practicable suggestions, from any quarters on how to address this monster in the Chiefdom.
Sir Dominic Gambo Yahaya appealed to all tiers of government, and particularly the Kaduna state government, to as soon as practicable strengthen the security apparatus in the Chiefdom and support the displaced people to rehabilitate their burnt houses and also provide palliatives to them so as to ease the painful and unbearable effects of the losses.
He, however, congratulated the Muslim Ummah in his Chiefdom, Kaduna state and Nigeria at large for witnessing another Eid-el-Kabir, a feast that epitomizes genuine fear of Allah, love of neigbour and peaceful coexistence.
He added, “In that same spirit of the Eid EL Kabir celebration, I appeal for restrain, complete and total cessation of hostilities, calm and forgiveness in order to allow peace reign in the Chiefdom.”
The paramount ruler said he once again pray for cessation of all attacks and hostilities in all ramifications in my chiefdom, Kaduna state and Nigeria at large and wish all a happy and peaceful sallah celebration.
