Speaker of the Bauchi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Yakubu Suleiman has described the Holy festive period of Eid-el-Kabir as a turning point to all Muslims all over the world as they perform the rite of animal sacrifices commanded by the Almighty Allah.
The Speaker in a goodwill message on Sallah day, felicitated with Muslims in Bauchi State and the country at large as they join other Muslims all over the world to celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Kabir.
Hon. Abubakar Suleiman who is also the Chairman of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures noted that animal sacrifices during the period demonstrate total submission and obedient to the commandments and will of Almighty Allah and his beloved Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him).
“This is very important period to all Muslims as we perform Hajj and make animal sacrifices, help the needy and visit our friends and families to exchange pleasantries. We should show love to one another and offer helping hands to neighbours and the needy”.
“We should use this holy period to show more commitment, faithful and total obedience to Almighty Allah as demonstrated by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) who offered to make self-sacrifice to obey the command of the Almighty Allah.
According to him, this year’s Eid-el-kabeer comes at the time when our nation is trying hard to overcome some national challenges threatening our development and unity.
He explained that the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading, insurgency, kidnapping, banditry and other form of violence are some great threats to the peace and development of the country.
Suleiman therefore commended the Federal Government for working hard to secure the country and overcome all our national challenges, as he enjoined Nigerians to make more sacrifices toward solving these problems and national growth and development in order to complement the effort of the government.
“Leaders should be supported through prayers, support and encouragement so that Almighty Allah will give them wisdom to lead the people efficiently, secure the country and bring developments.” He said.
The Speaker also commended the Governor of Bauchi state Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammad for ensuring that peace and stability reign in the state, stated his spokesperson, Abdul Ahmad Burra
He noted that for the past two years the Governor has shown uncommon spirit of patriotism and exceptional leadership qualities by transforming the state in all sectors of human endeavour in which everywhere wears new look while peace reigning.
Hon. Suleiman commended the patriotism of members of the State House of Assembly who provided the atmosphere for the development and peace in the state, assuring them of his continued loyalty and purposeful leadership.
The Speaker assured the people of the state that the House will continue to work in synergy with all the arms of government for the rapid socio-economic and political development of the state.
Also in his Sallah message, Governor Bala Mohammed noted thatthe total submission of Prophet Abraham (AS) to the will of Allah when he answered the Divine call to sacrifice his only son, Prophet Isma’il is the highest spiritual sacrifice that has ever been made in observance of divine injunction.
He explained that the sacrifice made by Prophet Abraham is worthy of emulation especially by the Muslim Ummah, and called on Muslims to use the occasion to reflect on how they have fared morally and spiritually during the last one year so as to take corrective measures where necessary.
Senator Bala Mohammed said that the religion of Islam propagates total submission to the will of Allah (SWT) and peaceful co-existence amongst the Muslim Ummah and with adherents of other faiths.
(The Holy Qur’an has also commanded all Muslims to give something (in charity) out of the treasure which Allah has bestowed on them. This should be done without consideration for religious, ethnic or political differences), he said.
The governor also urged Muslims to use the Eid–el Kabeer occasion to strengthen the existing interpersonal relationships among them and create new ones, saying there is also the need for them to imbibe the spirit of forgiveness, humility and respect for one another.
He reiterated his administration’s commitment to continue to serve the people of the state and to take Bauchi to greater heights, stressing “We are making our modest efforts in infrastructural development, education, health, youth empowerment and agriculture”.
