SWAN Goes Beyond Reporting, Donates Water To Akwa Utd FC

Akwa Ibom State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), has donated packs of bottled water to Akwa Utd FC of Uyo, beyond writing to promote the Club to winning the title in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
Making the presentation to the Club on Tuesday during its training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, SWAN Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Akpan said that the gesture was the association’s way of showing support to the team.
Akpan said that SWAN in the state, following the performances of Akwa Utd on the league table, is happy to donate the water to further energise the club to record the desired victory ahead.  
According to Comrade Akpan, who was accompanied by members of his executives in the state, the association is fervently praying for Akwa Utd to bring glory to the state and indeed Nigeria in soccer.
“We are indeed grateful that Akwa United is doing very well in the League, and we believe that the Club needs support from all stakeholders including SWAN to make history by winning their first NPFL title.

“We in SWAN, will continue to support and promote all activities of Akwa United as the flagship team in Akwa Ibom State and we wish the team success in all its remaining matches this season.
“Water is life and we pray that as the players will drink this water, God will bless them with supernatural strength to play, win and finish this season as Champions,” Comrade Akpan said.

Receiving the items on behalf of Akwa United, the Club Chairman, Elder Paul Bassey commended SWAN for their show of love and support to the team and assured that the gift would be adequately utilized.
“This is coming to us as a big surprise, infact, this is one support we cherish so much. On behalf of the players, management and staff of Akwa United, we want to specially thank the leadership of SWAN in Akwa Ibom State for your thoughtfulness and support to us. 
“As a Football Club, water is one of those things that we consume everyday (during training sessions and on match days). We are grateful that the quantity of water the Association is presenting to us today will help in no small measure.
“It’s our belief that this water you have presented to us will energize us as we go into the last five matches of the season, trust us that we are not taking this gesture for granted, it’s very dear to us and once again, we say thank you for this show of love and support”. 
Nigeria Professional Football League leaders, Akwa United are three points clear at the top of the log and will engage Warri Wolves on Wednesday July 20th, 2021 on match-day 34 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium -Nest of Champions- at 4pm.
Commenting on side, one of the fans of Akwa Utd, Uwakmfonobong Titus said in the intellect of Thomas Fuller, a renowned British Physician and Preacher, saying, “We never know the worth of water till the well is dry.”
