Future Pride FC have emerged champions of the 2021 edition of the Alice Gombwer Peace and Unity Cup.
They beat their teammates Future of Africa 1-0 in a final that was competitive at the Kotoko Barracks Kaduna on Sunday July 18.
Both finalists put up a good show, but the other Future side, Pride made their coach proud by claiming the prestigious trophy.
Earlier in the third place match played on Saturday at the same field, Fearless United settled for the bronze after subduing Bally FC 2-1.
Speaking to newsmen, one of the organisers and board member of the Alice Gombwer Foundation, Joseph Paul Gombwer expressed delight over the success of this year’s edition.
“Thank God for seeing us through this year’s Alice Gombwer Foundation Peace Soccer tournament,” he said.
Speaking further, he commended all the teams that participated for putting up a good show.
“I appreciate everyone that participated and admonish us to please keep spreading the message of peace as you are now a peace ambassadors,” he added.
The team that won the Best Community Development Award is Victory FC Trikania, who built a pedestrian bridge as part of requirements for registering for this year’s edition.
