It was confusion galore at Igangan and Igboora in Ibarapa area of Oyo State as gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen reportedly dressed in fake military and Customs uniform on Friday night attacked the two towns and shot dead the Commander of Amotekun in Ibarapa Central.
The attackers alleged to be loyalists of Wakili during the gun attack left many others injured during the attack which has thrown the area into another round of confusion.
New Nigerian learnt that the gunmen invasion came days after the Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC) raised alarm of alleged plans by the Wakili boys to launch another round of bloody attack on Ibarapaland on or before Eid El Kabir festivities.
Our Correspondent gathered that the gunmen arrived Igangan around 7pm shooting sporadically but were immediately tackled by the standby local hunters, vigilante groups Amotekun operatives in the area.
The gunmen were said to have departed Igangan for Igboora axis of Ibarapaland shooting sporadically along the way to scare people and made way for their escape.
On getting to Igboora, the gunmen on sensing possible attack on them opened fire with the Amotekun operatives local hunters and vigilante groups in the town engaging them .
It was learnt that during the shootings the Àmotekun commander for Ibarapa Central was shot dead while some others were injured.
Speaking on the attack, the Convener Igangan Development Advocate, Comrade Oladiran Oladokun said the gunmen invasion of Ibarapaland came as a surprise to many residence of the area.
