Ibadan Community Youth Leader Shot Dead By Suspected Bandits, One Other Injured

A youth leader was on Saturday shot dead at Akinkunmi village in Moniya area of Ibadan by suspected gunmen said to be Fulani herdsmen.
New Nigerian gathered that the killing is presently creating fears in the villages across the Moniya area of Akinyele local government area of Oyo state as the Youths have vowed to revenge the killing of their leader 
Sources in the area said trouble started when a Fulani man reportedly stormed the village raising alarm that his junior brother has been apprehended by some Fulani herdsmen that attacked them at a nearby spot to the village
The Youth leader together with his  other colleagues were said to have headed to the said footpath  to rescue the Fulani boy only for them to be met with stiff resistance as the herdsmen reportedly firing gunshots at them with the youth leader shot dead leaving another Youth with gunshot  injury
It was learnt that the youths however amidst the sporadic shooting apprehended one of the herdsmen and as well handed over to the police at Moniya while the injured youth was rushed to an hospital 
Our Correspondent gathered that Fulani  cattle seller in the area had informed  his brother that his own father wanted to sell a cow to them and that they need to go and meet their father on the said cow .
They were said to be heading to their father’s village  on a motorbike through a foot path when the seven suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked the three on the bike with one of them narrowly escaped to Akinkunmi village and raised alarm. 
Oyo state Police command Public Relations Officer DSP Adewale Osifeso is yet to respond to the New Nigerian text  message to him on the incident as at the time of sending this story.ENDS.
