The new Overseer of Jema’a Local Government Area, Alhaji Ibrahim Dayyabu has promised that he would be transparent and fair to all in the discharge of his administrative functions.
The new overseer stated this during the welcome reception and handing over in his honour at the Local Government Council Secretariat in Kafanchan.
Alhaji Dayyabu explained that his major assignment as an overseer of the local government council is to improve on the existing peace and inter communal relationship, as well as ensure that the forthcoming August 14 Local council elections in the area is free, fair and credible.
He therefore, cautioned the leadership of all political parties and aspirants in the area to avoid using hate and inciting comments in their campaign, capable of endangering the relative peace enjoyed in the local government area.
Mr. Dayyabu thanked Governor Nasir el-Rufai for considering him worthy to serve as local government overseer and assured him of his commitment to effectively implement the state government’s policies and programmes in the area.
He commended the leadership qualities and administrative successes of the outgoing chairman, which he described as laudable, saying his wise counsel especially in the area of peace building would be needed in due course.
The new leader called on the management, staff and the entire people of Jema’a Local Government Area to accord him the necessary support to enable him succeed in his assigned administrative duties.
In his farewell speech, the outgoing Chairman of Jema’a Local Government Area, Mr. Peter Danjuma Averik said the council under his leadership recorded huge achievements despite the financial difficulties that characterised his administration.
He thanked the people of Jema’a Local Government Area for the opportunity given to him to serve and for their consistent goodwill, support and prayers which he said, were the reasons for his successes.
He described the local government as the socio-economic and political melting point of Southern Kaduna and advised the new overseer to give priority attention to peace building and stakeholders engagements, noting that they were necessary to sustaining the existing climate of peace in the area.
In his welcome address, the Director Administration and Finance of the Local Government Councli, Mr Yusuf Othman Ashafa assured the new overseer of the staff loyalty and support, and thanked the outgoing chairman for the meritorious service he rendered to the people and wished him well in his future endeavours.
