*says no imposition of candidates in its congresses

Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Advisory Council in Oyo State and a former of the state, Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala on Monday declared APC will do everything possible to win the forthcoming elections in Oyo state.
Otunba Alao-Akala who stated this in Ibadan at a meeting of APC leaders and elders held at Lafia hotel, Apata, Ibadan on the party’s forthcoming congress slated to kick off in the 3rd week of this month also hinted that there will be no room for imposition of candidates in the party’s coming congresses.
According to the former governor, the present administration in Oyo state has failed the people of the state ,saying, “those in government now have failed. That is why people a trooping to join APC enmass, “
The former governor pointed out that this became necessary in view of the need for the party to ensure crisis free APC congresses in Oyo as the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state is determined to distabilise APC in the state.
” We will not allow imposition, we will not allow thuggery and brigandage, we will not allow any form of violence.We will lead by example.We should not bungle this opportunity”, he said.
Otunba Alao-Akala stressed that APC as a political party in Oyo state cannot afford to jeopardize the fragile opportunity at hand, adding, ” we should eschew violence and discord in the forthcoming Congress, we should allow a level playing ground in choosing who will steer the ship of the party as executives.”
Speaking further, the Chairman APC Elders Advisory Council in Oyo state tasked all relevant stakeholder in Oyo APC to guide against infiltration from the opposition, saying,” the P.D.P is seriously rattled by our deft political moves. They plan to infiltrate our camp, they want to distabilize us,”
” They plan to use every available opportunity to turn the table against us and we must not allow them. I can tell you categorically that we have become a major threat to the P.D.P in Oyo state. There is serious confusion amongst them.Our unity has become an headache to them, they never expected us to come together and form a formidable force that we all see today,”, he said.
The former governor said, ” take for example, the local government meeting of Ibadan North local government, it caught them unawares. The turn out was super impressive. Go to Atisbo in Oke Ogun area of the state, it is the same success story. The report of our registration exercise which is still ongoing is another success story.With all these and many more successes too numerous to mention, it behoves on us to be mindful of our actions at every given time”.
On women involvement in the party, the former governor urged women in the party to come out and vie for both party positions and elective positions as the party in the state will give priority to the female agenda.
“Women should come out en-mass, your participation is very important at this stage.We will give priority to your participation in the coming congress elections. Don’t shy away and don’t feel intimidated. The party is ready to accommodate you and encourage your inclusion”.
