A group of Zamfara students have commended Governor Dr Bello Mohammed Matawalle for declaring state of emergency in the education sector to save the sector from total collapse.
The leader of the group, Comrade Ibrahim Dantakarda stated this when he led members of the group on a solidarity visit to the governor.
Dantakarda described the governor’s declaration as the best alternative to revamping failing standard of education in the state.
“Governor Matawalle’s pronouncement has turned around the fortunes of the education sector and making it now very vibrant,” he said.
He applauded the efforts of Governor Matawalle’s administration in saving the education sector which he said, was about to collapse prior to the inception of Matawalle as governor of the state.
“Sponsoring of 200 less privileged and physically challenged students to study medical, paramedical and engineering courses abroad was the first of its kind in the history of the state apart from other unique measures taken to revive the education sector,” he said.
The group also commended Matawalle’s efforts in tackling banditry and other criminality bedevilling the state.
Responding on behalf of Governor Matawalle, the Special Adviser on Scholarship Matters, Lukman Majidadi said the state government under the stewardship of Matawalle will not relent in ensuring that the education becomes one of the best in the country.
He charged the students to concentrate on the pursuit of education as it is the bedrock of development.
