Chadian Activist Seeks Nigeria’s Support Against Outbreak Of Civil War

A Chadian activist, Ibrahim Congy, has called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government to intervene in the affairs of Chad government to prevent breakdown of law and order in the country.

He said there is the need for Nigeria, the giant of Africa to support Chad towards the restoration of peace and democratic government in the country.

Speaking to newsmen in Kaduna, the Chadian activist, alleged that there is a lot suspicion, stressing that any slightest provocation could lead total war in Chad.

He noted that what happened to Rwanda and Sierra Leone, where some powers were investing on how to light fire and start civil war is exactly what is happening in Chad.

He called on responsible and civilised African nations, agencies and governments in the region as well as other parts of the world to come to the aid of Chad to ensure sanity in the affairs of the country.

The activist explained, “The Chadians are in a very precarious situation before entering the genocide, help us to save our country.”

Ibrahim Congy noted that the present military regime in Chad is unconstitutional, stressing that efforts should be made to ensure sanity in the whole system in the country.

He explained that the Constitution stipulates that the President of the National Assembly should be removed from a transitional government for 45 to 90 days to be able to hold a free, fair and credible elections in the country.

He lamented that in the case of Chad, that did not happen, pointing out that the constitution was bypassed and the activities are unconstitutional.

The activist lamented that the events in Chad which included social division with a population of over 15 million people and 250 ethnic groups, said the minorities are still on top due to the influence of power.

He said Chadians are united people who work to protect their nation.
