*calls for arrest of perpetrators, condemns the killing

Oyo state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ) on Tuesday asked Governor Seyi Makinde to immediately convene a security summit to address the Insecurity in the state
NUJ in a statement jointly signed by its Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola and Secretary, Comrade Sola Oladapo made available to newsmen on the last Saturday night killings in Igangan.
According to Oyo NUJ, convocation of security summit in Oyo state at this period will go a long way at finding a lasting solution to the failing security situation ugly trend.
While condemning the wanton killings in Igangan in Ibarapa North Local Government of the state, Oyo NUJ described the killings as inhuman, cruel and barbaric, saying the actions was avoidable if appropriate authorities evolve adequate measures and acts to time, on the intelligence information at their disposals.
The union then called on both the federal and state governments to put in place adequate measures aimed at forestaling the ugly trend, as the citizens are living in palpable fears with the daily spike in bloodletting across the land.
Sympathising with victims of the dastardly act by being more alive to their responsibilities of safety of lives and property of the people, Oyo NUJ called on government to ensure they are adequately compensated for their losses.
