* builds, renovates more than 40 schools across Northern states
Kaduna Brewery Manager, Nigerian Breweries (NB) Plc, Mr. Osasu Oviawe has said that they are training over 100 youth in two local government areas of Chikun and Kaduna South in its Youth Empowerment Skills Programme for the year 2021.
He made it known during the flagging off of the programme at the District Head of Kakuri’s office in Kaduna South, saying it is part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), to its host communities.
Mr. Oviawe reiterated the company’s commitment in adding value to youth of its host communities across the state.
According to him, the beneficiaries would receive a 10-week intensive training and skills acquisition in Make Up, ICT, Barbing, Tailoring & Fashion Design, Mobile Telephone Repairs (GSM), Catering, Vulcanising and Photography, while the company is registering no fewer than 50 final year senior secondary school students from host communities to write the 2021 NECO examinations.
The Brewery Manager went further to say that, the main reason for the training and skills acquisition for the youth is not just part of their CSR alone, but to also make them self reliant, so that they can fend for themselves, their families and take them off negative thoughts.
He observed that over the years, the company has ensured that it taked adequate care of its host communities, by undertaking the renovation and building of schools in the Northern part of the country.
Specifically he said, from 2011 to 2020, the NB Plc has renovated and built more than 40 schools across the Northern states.
He said, “Today, we marked another edition of youth empowerment programme in 2021 to further solidify our commitment to the host communities.
“The importance of this programme for us, is to see our host community prosper, as Nigerian Brewery carries out her daily business.
“It is in our best interest to see our immediate community evolves into a developed and successful neighborhood.
“Nigerian Breweries Plc is your best friend and your number one neighbor of choice.
“As your best friend, we have contributed so much in the past through our corporate social responsibility program and will continue to do so for the benefit of this community and the nation at large.” Oviawe added that “In the recent past we donated the accident and emergency trauma unit at Gwamna Awan hospital in Kakuri here.
“We donated N20m cash support to Kaduna State Government to help fight COVID-19
“We donated sanitizers, hand washing dispensers and vehicle for contact tracing during COVID-19. We introduced the first edition of youth empowerment in 2020 for 80 beneficiaries.”
