Ibarapa: We Need Concerted Efforts To Address Challenges Of Peace, Security In Nigeria – Alaafin

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi has expressed displeasure at the last  Saturday late night killings  in Igangan in  Ibarapa North local government area of Oyo State by gunmen suspected to be  bandits. 
In a statement made available to newsmen in Ibadan by his Director of Media and Publicity, Mr Bode Durojaiye on the Igangan killings, the Alaafin said there is the need for conserted efforts  towards addressing the challenges of peace and security in the country. 
Oba Adeyemi called on security agencies in the country to employed native intelligence services to be able  to effectively tackle critical security challenges confronting the country.

” Security of any country is critical for the development, economic prosperity and democratic principles to thrive, hence the critical issue is the way a country deploys its strategic security responses to protect the citizens”, he said.

Describing the burning of the palace of Ashigangan of Igangan as a ” taboo”, Alaafin maintained that the challenges of peace and security must be the topmost priority of the government and relevant stakeholders.
Oba Adeyemi stated  that Nigeria’s ethnic, sectional and religious diversities which ought to served as source of national unity, cohesion and integration, has over the years constituted serious threat to peace, security, and national development.
