To entrench unity and peaceful coexistence for sustainable development, a Non governmental organization, Organizations for Innovation and Sustainable Development (OISC) has organized a one-day workshop for All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth leaders in Adamawa State.
The training which brought together the twenty-one local government areas youth leaders as participants, saw them charged with the sole purpose of sustaining the efforts of the federal government in empowering Nigerian youth with many laudable programmes.
One of the resource persons, Malam Abubakar G. Mshelia from the Department of International Relations and strategic studies, Adamawa State Polytechnic Yola, told them that, “building effective leadership skills” will help in creating their leadership legacy through mentoring.
The workshop which was held on Saturday at the party’s state secretariat in Yola, reminded them that as leaders, they exist to inspire others to strive for excellence and to teach, mentor, and provide guidance for others to follow.
Building solid relationships, acting with integrity and fairness, providing counsel and direction, fostering collaboration and motivating, coaching, and developing others were among the many skills Abubakar told the participants.
Dr. Abubakar Mohammed Sambo of the department of political science, Federal University Kashere was another resource person who dwelt extensively on the key role Nigeria youth play in national development.
He said Nigerian youth constitute seventy per cent of the country’s overall population, having the developmental baseline of the country and their participation in politics is not only necessary, but very vital as civic responsibility that is expected for national development.
The APC state Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Abdullahi Mohammed who presented certificates of participation to the attendees, said the workshop is in collaboration with other NGOs to help the youth of the state have good conscience towards politics.
The conveyer of the workshop, Alhaji Jamilu Dan’umma said OISC is an NGO committed to human and capital development.
He said the workshop was a deliberate attempt to engineer the APC youth to have focus on leadership role, involved in political activities that will realize and actualize the narratives that “youth are leaders of tomorrow.”
One of the participants, Dr. Bappare Mohammed who is the APC Youth leader of Yola South, told our reporter that he is now equipped with a broad mindset to take the responsibility of guiding others for unity to sustain democracy.
“I’m better informed, equipped, and well guided to be a leader of influence through today ‘s workshop,” he added.
