The Oluwo of Iwoland, in Osun State, Oba Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi on Wednesday kicked against the agitation by some groups and individuals for the creation of Yoruba Nation
Delivering his goodwill message at the official launching of Osun State Youth Policy Document by the Osun State Government, in Osogbo, Oba Akanbi declared there is the need for the agitators to be cautious as it will led to suffering for the South-West and its people
According to the Oluwo, South-West region was not ripe to be a nation and as such the on growing calls for secession should be condemned by all sons and daughters of Yorubaland.
Oba Akanbi urged the people of Osun state , especially women and youths to desist from joining the agitators whenever they are holding rallies, saying, “Yoruba Nation will cause a great setback for the South-West if allowed to fly.”
” We know their agenda and as traditional rulers, we will not allow it to happen because if it happens, we will all suffer for it and it will cause a great setback for the South-West region”, he said
The Oluwo while berating some traditional rulers in the region for supporting the agitators asked such traditional rulers to ensure that the agitators ceased to get royal blessings for their secession moves.
Oba Akanbi added, “we know how many dollars the agitators are collecting from abroad, all in the name of fighting for the creation of Yoruba nation, unfortunately, we have some traditional rulers supporting them. I feel bad for them.”
Lauding the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola in Osun State for challenging the status quo by reversing policies that were not masses friendly , Oba Akanbi tasked Osun youths to remain focused, and should not follow the way of Yoruba nation agitators.
