Twelve suspected secret cultists said to be members of Eiye Confraternity are now in the net of the Oyo State Police Command.
According to a statement by the Oyo State Police command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Adewale Osifeso, suspects were arrested by the command’s Monitoring Unit while on purposeful simultaneous intelligence-led raids and strategic surveillance .
DSP Osifeso stressed that the arrested hoodlums were suspected to be robbers and cultists responsible for strings of Kidnappings, Gun running, Rape and Robbery in Oyo town and its surrounding environs.
The PPRO maintained that the 12 suspects were arrested in their secret hideout while allegedly ” planning to unleash another round of mayhem on innocent citizens in that axis.”
DSP Osifeso noted that preliminary investigations revealed that all the arrested cultists ” belong to the infamous Eiye Confraternity and were on a quest to establish supremacy in the axis.”
He emphasized that as at present, ” comprehensive investigations are ongoing to rid the other fleeing members of the group.”
The PPRO identified the arrested suspects as Abass Kamilu, 26yrs, Basit Azeez, 26yrs, .Aworonke Asimiyu , 32yrs, Olalekan Moruf, 27yrs, Rasheed Taiwo, 25yrs and Quadri Raheem 30yrs
Others included, Wasiu Lekan, 22 yrs, Salaudeen Ridwan, 19yrs, Mustapha Abass, 19 yrs, Jimoh Afeez , 20 yrs, Habeeb Idowu, 17yrsand Bello Jamiu AKA Aroba ‘M’ age 28yrs.
DSP Osifeso stressed that exhibits recovered from the arrested suspects are , Amulets, Catapult, Weed suspected to be Indian hemp, Two single barrel cut to size pistols, One Double barrel cut to size gun, Locally made Revolver, Two live and one expended cartridges, One black locally made pistol, and Red Charm attached to amulet.
