Newly appointed Registrar of Community Health Practitioners Registration Board of Nigeria, Alhaji Bashir Idris says the board will give priority to eliminating quacks in the profession.
He gave this assurance during a reception organised by theNational Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter and the North West Zonal forum in his honour in Kaduna.
The Registrar, Alhaji Bashir Idris said that quacks in the Schools of Health Technologies and those practicing without licenses will face the wrath of the law in order to sanitize the profession.
He said the board will partner Ministry of Health, the National Assembly to reframe the law that established the board in order to meet up with the global standards.
In his welcome address, the Chairman, National Association of Community Health Practitioners of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, Comrade Ibrahim Lawal said that increase in the proliferation and operation of private schools of health technologies, uncertified and unlicensed community health practitioners are the major threats to the profession.
He suggested a thorough follow up to schools and private health practitioners to improve discipline, transparency and maintenance of professional ethics in order to sustain development of the profession.
The chairman assured that the association will support the new Registrar to succeed in his new assignment.
The occasion was graced by representatives of the association from Nasarawa, Jigawa, Sokoto, Abuja, Katsina, Zamfara among others.
