Masari Visits Kebbi, Describes Boat Mishap Which Claimed Over 150 Lives As National Tragedy

Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State has said that the Kebbi State fatal boat incident which claimed  over 150 lives is a national tragedy. 

A statement by the Governor’s Director General (DG) Media, Alhaji Abdu Labaran Malumfashi said Governor Bello Masari, made the observation at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi when he paid a condolence visit to his Kebbi State counterpart, Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu on Sunday, May 30, 2021. 

According to him, the impact of the tragedy  was not limited within Kebbi State but the entire country and beyond.noting that, “in view of the fact that most of those who died were traders on their way to the market to sell and or buy goods.” 

 Governor Masari emphasized that the magnitude of the tragedy was such that thousands of Nigerians within and outside Kebbi must be negatively affected in one way or the other hence the need for compatriots across the country to sympathise and condole with the government and people of the state as well as the immediate families of the deceased. 

According to the statement, he  prayed for Allah’s forgiveness for those died, the courage and fortitude to bear the loss for the bereaved. 

 While responding, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, expressed appreciation to Governor Bello Masari for the condolence visit, disclosing that out of 170 victims suspected to be involved in the incident, only 25 were rescued while 82 bodies have been recovered and buried.
