The prolonged tussle over the stool of Aresa of Iresa Adu in Iresa-Adu town, Surulere Local Government area of Oyo State on Thursday assumed another dimension as kingmaker and two ruling families in the town asked Governor  Makinde to immediately stop Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde from parading himself as the Aresa-Adu of Iresa-adu pending the investigations and court’s proceeding.
In a petition to Governor Makinde dated May 19, the Kingmakers and the ruling houses said  Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde should know that he will be responsible ” for any breach of peace and the attendance destruction in the town of Iresa-adu and environs if he continues to parade himself as the Aresa-adu of Iresa-Adu.”

According to the petitioners, there is the urgent need for Governor  Seyi Makinde to intervene in the Iresa Adu Obaship crisis before  it will degenerate to breakdown of law and order by deploying “all powers within his disposal to stop Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde from further parading himself as the new Aresa-Adu of Iresa-Adu in flagrant disobedience to an existing court order.”

In the petition jointly signed by Prince Fowomola Olanipekun for the Emiolu ruling family and Prince Raji Oloyede for the ruling Oshunbiyi together with other prominent indigenes of Iresa-Adu, Oyo State commissioner of Police was also charged to prevail on the Divisional Police Officers (DPOs) in Surulere Local Government to desist from aiding and abetting Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde in his bid to cause chaos in the town
The petitioners stressed further that Prince Adeyeye Oyetunde was never chosen by any of the two ruling families to be the next monarch, the petitioners and that none of the two ruling houses forwarded the name of any candidate to the king makers as required by the chieftaincy laws of Oyo State and the Aresa-Adu of Iresa-Adu chieftaincy declaration.

In the petition titled: “The Aresa-Adu of Iresa-Adu chieftaincy and the position of the two ruling houses, the chiefs and the kingmakers of Iresa-Adu and all indigene of the towns against the fraud of being perpetuated by Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde and the threat to the peace of the town”,” they emphasized that the ” selection and process of Coronating another monarch for the town is currently a subject of litigation in a matter instituted by the Emiolu ruling house in Suit Number: HOI/4/2019 , dated 24th April 2019, before an Oyo State High Court sitting in Orile Igbon in Surulere Local Government for which an interlocutory injunction restraining all parties in the matter has been secured pending the final determination of the case.”
Alleging  Prince Oyerinde of in the recent time, ” busy himself with the installation of village heads under the ancient town of Iresa-Adu in flagrant disobedience to the subsisting court order granted by an Oyo State High Court sitting in Igbon town of Surulere Local Government”, they stated, ” we urgently request you put to an end to this fraud being perpetuated not only on the entire sons and daughters of Iresa-adu but also on the Oyo State government.”
” Set up panel of inquiry that will examine the ways, means and manner Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde got a letter of approval when he was in fact not nominated by any ruling house in spite of several letters protesting such nomination. Let Prince Adeyeye Oyerinde knows that he will be responsible for any breach of peace and the attendance destruction in the town of Iresa-adu and environs if he continues to parade himself as the Aresa-adu of Iresa-Adu.”
Speak with journalists after delivering the petition to Governor Makinde, one of the king makers, the Balogun of Iresa-Adu, Chief Ogunmola Olaleye Adebayo said  while every member of the two ruling houses abide by the injunction and awaiting the decision of the court, Prince Oyerinde has been busy parading himself as the new Aresa-adu of Iresa-Adu.
