Workers under the umbrella of the NIgeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Monday, staged a massive protest March along major roads in Kaduna to the State House of Assembly as they commenced a 5-day warning strike against the sack of workers by the state government.
They began the procession around 10am, led by NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba from the union’s State Secretariat along Golf Course Road.
They grounded activities as they walked from there through the popular Independence Way, before connecting the Kaduna State House of Assembly.
As they moved, they distributed handbills, titled, “el-Rufai’s Scorecard” where they listed alleged injustices against workers in Kaduna State.
They held a large banner in front of the procession, while others carried placards carrying various messages.
The peaceful procession ended at the Kaduna Assembly, from where they dispersed.
Addressing the workers outside the Assembly, NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba said the 5-day warning strike and protest march was initiated following sacking of workers in the State without following due process.
He thanked presidents and secretaries of various affiliated unions for converging on Kaduna and making the protest a huge success.
