Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) is to deploy 1,900 of its personnel across the state to ensure hitch free EID-EL-FITRI celebrations this year.
The state NSCDC Commandant, Corp Commandant Iskilu Akinsanya made this known while speaking at the Command State Headquarters, Agodi in Ibadan during the annual Strategic meeting of all intelligence officers of NSCDC across Oyo state.
Corp Commandant Akinsanya pointed out that the 1900 personnel were to be deployed to places of worship, market, recreation areas and highways to beef up security before, during and after the Eid El Fitri celebrations.
He further tasked the intelligence officers to be more proactive as the country and Oyo state can only be well secured ” when timely information is given to security agencies to nib crime on bud.”, saying considering the fact that the festivities ” is usually accompanied by movement of persons and vehicles, there is the need for ” special and elaborate security arrangements to ensure that celebrations are hitch free and successful”.
The Oyo state NSCDC Commandant however mandated that all entrances to the state such as the Abeokuta – Ibadan, Iseyin axis, Iwo, Lagos/Ibadan highway and Ogbomoso axis be properly watched while the Command disaster management officers and ambulance are to be on standby throughout the Eid-el-fitri celebration.
CC Akinsanya while charging Muslim faithful in the state to be law abiding during the Eid-el-fitri celebrations urged them to always remember the importance of unity, love and religion tolerance towards the promotion of growth and development of Nigeria.
Tasking them to imbibe the lesson of sacrifice and obedience learnt during the fasting period, the Oyo state NSCDC Commandant
congratulated Muslim faithful on this year’s Eid-el-fitri celebration.
