Bauchi Emirate Suspends This Year’s Eid-el Fitr Horse-Riding

Sequel to security strategies being adopted by the Bauchi State Government to forestall breakdown of law and order during this year’s Eid-el Fitr festivities, the Bauchi Emirate Council has suspended the annual horse-ridings regalia ‘Hawan Sallah & Hawan Daushe’ being celebrated by the Emir, Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu.

A Statement signed by Nasiru Musa Maidala for Secretary to the Emirate council and made available to press, said that traditional rulers such as district heads and traditional title holders should gather at emir’s palace a day after the sallah and march on motor-cade to the Government House for Sallah homage to Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed.

“The Emirate Council had an emergency meeting on Sunday 9/05/2021 where it decided that Eid-el fitr will be celebrated without the usual regalia of Horse-ridings ‘Hawan Sallah & Hawan Daushe’. This decision is based on perceive insecurity in the state and the nation at large”, the statement said.

It added, “Based on the aforementioned, the emirate council hereby suspend this year’s two traditional horse-ridings. District heads would troupe to the state capital on motor vehicles, but not on horse backs”.

The emirate council also disclosed that it would observe the Eid-el fitr prayer at the Bauchi Central Eid-el Ground on the Sallah day at exactly 9:00am.
