Governor Badaru Abubakar of Jigawa State has directed prompt investigation’s into an alleged employment scam bedeviling the state local government administrations.
Speaking on May Day celebrations at the state secretariat in Dutse, he said, ” I am aware of the syndicate as I was reliably informed on the development. We will swing into action and we will not spare anyone found guilty no matter how highly placed”.
Governor Badaru was responding to complaints raised by the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Sunusi Alhassan that there was an alleged gross abuse of due process in the issuance of appointment and promotion of selected staff of the state Civil Service Commission.
The NLC Chairman was quoted as saying, ” appointments and promotion are conducted in gross disregard to due process and public service rules from happening’s in the state Civil Service Commission procedures.”
He pleaded with the state government to quickly intervene in order to save the state from the brink of losing its hard earned reputation by some selfish individuals.
He also pleaded with Governor Badaru to consider the appointment of workers in other fields other than health and education sectors to ensure the sustenance of the state and local government contributory pension fund which he said is fast dwindling as a result of frequent retirements without replacements.
Responding, Governor Badaru assured workers in Jigawa State of his commitment to pay salaries and pension despite zero federal allocations to states in subsequent months.
He stated, ” I was earlier accused of keeping money not for spending because we know a time will surely come and the time is.now”.
