The traditional ruler of Iba kingdom in Lagos HRM Dr. Sulaimon Adeshina Raji Ashade, Oniba Ekun, has warned that the security of the community will not be taken for granted under any guise.
The monarch gave the warning during a peace meeting with the leaders of Hausa traders in Alabarago community following the crisis that ensued last Monday amongst the Hausa sellers in Alabarago market.
Noting that the chaos led to destruction of property by the Hausa traders, Oba Adeshina posited that the incident is detrimental to the maintenance of security, growth and development of his domain.
According to the traditional ruler, anybody caught fomenting trouble in the community henceforth will be made to face the wrath of the law, stressing that nobody is above the law of the State Government.
He urged the Hausa sellers to jettison all selfish interest, especially as it relates to making laws that govern the markets, urging the leaders to come together and resolve their differences in order for peace to reign in Iba Kingdom.
Adeshina called on the entire residents of Iba Kingdom to be rest assured that their lives and property will be secured, as the kingdom will have another meeting with the leaders of the market on Tuesday, 3rd of May, to ensure various stakeholders work together in harmony for chaos not to occur in the community again.
Responding, the Seriki of Alabarago Market, Alhaji Umaru Sokoto disclosed that the chaos was as a result of the leadership imposed on the market for six years, who is extorting the sellers among other forms of oppression.
He appreciated the monarch for meeting with the leaders to resolve the crisis, saying peace and orderliness will be adhered to in the market going forward.
Our correspondent reports that the DPOs of Okokomaiko, Iba Divisions, members of Council of Chiefs under Iba Kingdom and other stakeholders were present at the meeting.
