Oduduwa Republic : Police Takes Over Venue As Ilana Omo Yoruba Members Storm Ibadan For Self Determination Rally

Members of the Yoruba nation self determination groups under the auspices of Ilana Omo Yoruba on Saturday stormed Mapo area of Ibadan in continuation of their agitation for a Yoruba nation. 
The groups members comprising mainly of youth, women and community leaders from across the South West states, stormed the Mapo Hall venue of the planned agitation protest as early as 8am, but were turned back by armed policemen stationed at the main entrance to the hall.
All efforts by the organisers of the planned solidarity protest were rebuffed by the armed policemen claiming possible security breach if members of the groups were allowed into the Mapo Hall venue for the rally.


At about 11.30am, the organisers of the protest shifted it to the frontage of Mapo Hall, Ojaba axis for the commencement, condemning the blockage of Mapo Hall by the armed security agencies.

During the march by members of the self determination groups, the members vowed that there will be no going back in the demand for Oduduwa Republic.

 Most of the members of the groups were with banners having inscriptions to support the agitation for self determination insisting  enough of the present arrangement in Nigeria.


Speaking at the programme, a leader in  one of the groups of  Basorun Kunle Adesokan said the protest was to back up the continuous agitations by the entire Yoruba race to have their own country, having suffered a lot in the present day Nigeria.


“Yoruba has suffered enough. We are not in support of the 2023 elections. We are not telling all politicians not to contest. They should not waste their money. We are now warning politicians not to waste money on elections.”


Also, the Publicity Secretary of Ilana Omo Yoruba,  Mr. Maxwell Adeleye while speaking, frowned at the prevention of the groups by armed policemen from entering Mapo Hall for the programme, saying, ” the Police in Mapo, Ibadan said they are at the venue to prevent hoodlums from hijacking the rally for Yoruba Self-Determination, and not stopping it from holding.”
