The umbrella body of all  Self- determination groups in Yorubaland, Ilana Omo Oodua  on Sunday raised alarm of plans by some force to destabilise Yoruba land with  rumour of purported  kidnap of its leader, Professor Banjo Akintoye.
Dispelling the rumour of the alleged kidnap of Professor Akintoye in a statement made available to newsmen  in Ibadan by the  Communications Manager to Professor Banji Akintoye/Media and Communications Secretary, Ilana Omo Oodua, Comrade Maxwell Adeleke , Ilana Omo Oodua emphasized that Professor Akintoye “is hale, healthy and safe “
Comrade Adeleke stressed that those behind the rumoured kidnap of Ilana Omo Oodua National leader were those hell bent in frustrating the on going moves at rescuing the entire Yorubarace .
” Sequel to the series of calls and text messages we have recieved in the last 10 hours on the safety of the leader of Yoruba Self-Determination Struggle and the Alana of Ilana Omo Oodua Worldwide, Emeritus Professor Banji Akintoye, we consider it sacrosanct, necessary and germane to make this rebuttal known, succinctly”, he said
Comrade Adeleke added, ” Professor Banji Akintoye is very safe, and he is in a good state of health in his home. The ongoing rumour that the member of the Second Republic Senate has been kidnapped, and his whereabout is unknown, is the handwork of the forces who want to destabilise Yoruba land, and we put it to them very expressly that their mission has failed”.
Emphasizing that  ” the Yoruba people have decided, and they have taken a position to move out of the Goghota”, Comrade Adeleke tasked Yoruba people to continue to be law abiding and peaceful as the agitation for the demand of Oduduwa Republic progresses.
” Once again, we appeal to the Yoruba people within and beyond the shores of Nigeria to be law abiding and peaceful. On no condition should anyone engage in a violent confrontation with any of the security formations in the nations of Nigeria”.
