Chairman, Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Abubakar Suleiman has expressed optimism that the on-going PASAN, JUSUN strike may end next week following the progress so far recorded on negotiating table over impasse.
Rt. Hon. Suleiman who is also the Speakers of Bauchi State House of Assembly, said the conference leadership, leadership of the Governors Forum and Technical Committee for the implementation set up by the Presidency leadership have met Thursday at the Presidential Villa to iron out issues
The conference chairman assured the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) and Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) that they are trying hard to ensure hitches free implementation modalities of the demands, stressing that next week’s meeting will be remarkable one.
Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria explained that remarkable progress has been made on the implementation modalities of financial autonomy to states legislature and the Judiciary.
This followed a successful meeting between the conference leadership with Governors, Chief of Staff to the President Professor Ibrahim Gambari and Presidential Technical Committee on the implementation of financial autonomy to State legislatures and the Judiciary.
Speaking after the meeting, the Chairman of the Conference Rt. Hon. Abubakar Y Suleiman said that during the meeting the report of the technical committee for the implementation set up by the Presidency was presented and exhaustively discussed.
He explained that the Speakers Conference and the Governors Forum will study the report and meet again with the Presidency on Monday to finalize on the issues at stake.
Suleiman therefore urged the striking staff of states legislature and judiciary to consider the untiring efforts they are making to resolve the issues and suspend their indefinite strike.
