Operatives of the Delta Police Command have apprehended a suspected drug peddlers, with a large chunk of substances suspected to be illicit drugs recovered from him.
Our correspondent reliably learnt that the suspect identified as Lucky Okpoko, 50, was arrested at a black spot within Okandeji street, in Warri area of the state by operatives attached to “A Division, Warri.
As learnt, a total of 545 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 102 wraps of skunk aka SK and seven wraps of readymade weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, which monetary value is yet to be ascertained was said to have been recovered from him.
According to teport, the arrest took place on 8th April, 2021, at about 5.00pm.
Following intelligence report at his disposal, the DPO of the Station, CSP T.Y Mahmud was said to have dispatched the operatives to the spot, culminating in the arrest of the suspect.
The Ag. Police Public Relations Officer Edafe Bright confirmed the arrest in a release made available to journalists.
He disclosed that the suspect has given useful information to the police, adding that investigation has commenced on further possible links/recoveries with a view to arrest other partners that may also be involved in such illicit drug dealings.
The police image maker also stated that the v Commissioner of Police Delta state Ari Muhammed Ali has continued to assure all Deltans that he is in the state with a clear mandate of reducing crime to the barest minimum.
Pointing out that the use of illicit/hard drugs and cultism give right to many of heinous crimes, Edafe said the Police boss has vowed to crack down those involved in such practices.
The release reads in part, ” On 8/04/2021 at about 1700hrs The Divisional Police officer ‘A’ division Warri CSP T.Y. Mahmud based on intelligence gathered dispatched quick response team that stormed a black spot within Okandeji Street Warri where one Lucky Okpoko (m) age 50 yrs of same address was arrested with the following exhibits 545 wraps of weed suspected to be Indian hemp, 102 wraps of skunk aka SK and seven wraps of readymade weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
