Edo 2020: Team Akwa Ibom Harvest 9 Gold, 9 Silver, 22 Bronze Medals



Team Akwa Ibom have so far, clinched nine gold, nine silver and twenty-two bronze medals with Ekuta Enka Ewa opening the lead for gold in Judo Women category in the ongoing 20th edition of national Sports Festival in Benin City tagged Edo 2020.
Skilful performance by male and female contestants in kickboxing tapped four gold, five silver and eight bronze medals of the total grabs so far by Team Akwa Ibom.

Four gold medals came from Victory Bassey – 54kg Male low contact, Victoria Usoro -70Kg Female Full Contact, Joshua Julius -65Kg Male Full Contact, and Alice Ikor – 65kg Female Full Contact.

Silver medals list has Anthony Ayogu, Nsisiong Uwah, Aniekpeno Thomas, Alexander Daniel and Effefiong Bassey while Margret Nzerem, Paul Oilsaeke, John Esang, Nsifon Sandy, Rachel Idam, Daniel Alex, Pamilerin Akintayo and Tomilola Babatunde earned Bronze medals.
With the four gold medals, kickboxing ended their campaign for medals on Friday with a total of 17 medals.
Commenting on the success story, Victory Bassey, said the victory was a reward for his hard work and dedication to training despite the fact that the festival was postponed many times.
From other sports, the team clinched Gold medals in women discuss via the beautiful throws of Utitofon James in Discuss, Juliet Chukwu Ukah – Kung Fu Women category, Nsini Jonah Ben – Parapower lifting Women 102kg and Edidiong Umuafia in 130kg Weight Lifting Snatch.
