All is now set for the take off of the Dele Oladejo South West Under-13 to 16 Open Squash Championship/Tournament holding from April 7 to 10 in Ibadan.
Addressing a press conference on the tournament, the Founder and Patron in Chief of Dele Oladejo Women Health Foundation, Dr Emmanuel Dele Oladejo said it is to rescue the teenage youth from the clutches of delinquency.
Represented by Mr Abiodun Akinyele, Dr Dele Oladejo stressed that the age grade championship ” is a vehicle to reach out to a vital component of the family.
“This squash open championship is meant to serve as a clarion call to all that is concerned to develop productive youth engagement strategies needed to contain and channel their inherent exuberances  towards adding positive value to our society”, he said.
According to him, ” this concept is predicated on the mental and physical smartness required to succeed in the game of squash”
” The time is ripe for us all to cease staying aloof on this sensitive subject, get down from our seat on the fence and hit the ground running before we all get consumed. We enjoin all people of goodwill in our society to become fellow crusaders right from this event and henceforth”.
Also speaking at the press conference, former under-16 Squash national player, Mr. Niyi Oyewunmi tasked the Federal , State and Local governments in the country  to stop focusing its attention on football but extend its  attention to other areas of sports to encourage those who are interested in the games.
The former National squash player urged the Oyo state government to divert its attention to other areas of sports in order to encourage people who are interested in other areas of sports apart from football, “my appeal to Oyo State government is that they should develop other areas of sports. The attention is too much on football.
“In Nigeria, government at the federal, state and local governments are focusing on football. I want to use the opportunity to call federal government and State governments to extend the attention to other areas of sports like Squash. They should extend the attention to other areas such as Squash and other areas of sports. It will help us to develop other areas of sports.
