Operatives of the Seme Command of the Nigeria Customs Service ( NCS) have been lauded by the Commander of the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Seme Border Command, Mr. Udotong Noah Essien over the seizure of 232 parcel of cannabis sativa along the beach line.
The anti-drug chieftain gave the commendation while officially receiving the illicit drug parcels from Seme Command Customs Comptroller, Mohammed Bello Jibo at the seizure yard of the Customs at Seme in presence of newsmen.
The street value of the cannabis believed to have been brought from Ghana or any of the neighbouring West Africa countries is put at N2,933,358.40.
While handing over the parcels, Jibo remarked that the fight against drugs was a general one as the physical and psychological harm drugs do to the society particularly youths is unquantifiable.
He pointed out that Customs personnel have cordial working relationship with sister security agencies particularly NDLEA.
Responding, Essien appreciated the collaboration between the Agencies and attributed the success of intercepting the 232 parcels of cannabis to such synergy.
While officially receiving the parcels, he promised that his Agency would go after those responsible for smuggling illicit drug into the country. He enjoined other sister agencies at the border to increase their level of cooperation so that every Agency’s objectives are achieved.
