Nigeria’s COVID-19 Update: 179 New Cases, Total 161,074

On Tuesday 16th March 2021, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported it detected 179 new cases of Novel Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in 18 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
The virus infections were found in the following: Lagos 47, Kaduna 21, Rivers 18, Akwa Ibom 14, FCT 11, Edo 10, Cross River 9, Ogun 9, Nasarawa 6, Ebonyi 5, Ekiti 5, Zamfara 5, Delta 4, Kano 4, Osun 4, Plateau 3, Abia 2, Gombe 1 and Sokoto 1.
According to NCDC, as of 11.32 p.m. on 16th March 2021 Nigeria had been afflicted with a total of 161,074 confirmed cases of COVID-19 pandemic since the index case was reported in the country.
Out of the total, 146,072 patients who were infected with the worldwide disease had been treated and discharged from the nation’s COVID-19 isolation centres, while, to date, the country had recorded 2,018 deaths caused by the virus.
COVID-19 killed two people in Nigeria on Tuesday.
NCDC said that its discharges on Tuesday included 153 community recoveries in Lagos State managed in line with guidelines.
