A 35-year old Inspector of Police, Mukhtar Ibrahim was last weekend gunned down by hoodlums while patrolling at the Nabordo Safer High Way Patrol Axis of Bauchi State Police Command
Inspector Mukhtar Ibrahim met his eventual death on patrol along Bauchi – Jos road Saturday at about 2130 hours following an attack on the police patrol team by unknown armed men.
Bauchi Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Ahmad Wakil in a press statement in Bauchi described the incident as unfortunate, said a 33-year old resident of Nabordo, Uba Sama’ila was also hit by a stray bullet, later died at hospital while receiving treatment.
The service rifle of the late inspector with breach NO.32486, according to the PPRO, has been recovered by the Police, while corpses of the victims have been released to their families in accordance with Islamic rite.
Superintendent of Police Ahmad Wakil said however that more patrol teams have been deployed to the Nabordo Safer High Way Patrol Axis while security men have embarked on stop and search with a view to tracking down the hoodlums.
The statement said that calm has been restored in the area and citizens goes about their normal businesses without let or hindrance, as the State Police Commissioner, CP Sylvester Abiodun Alabi regreted the ugly incidence and condoled with the bereaved family over the loss.
The Commissioner of Police, Sylvester Abiodun Alabi also ordered a full scale Investigation of the matter, saying his command would not relent on the matter as it is digging deep with a view to find lasting solution to the security breach.
“Our resilience as enforcers of the law has been tested by these criminals, but our resolve remain firm and resolute in fishing them out and serving justice adequately”, Alabi said.
