The Jonde Jam Fulani Youths Association Of Nigeria (JJAFUYAN) has advocated the need for strategic education among the nomadic children in the country.
The national president of the association, Alhaji Saidu Maikano stated this in Jos during the annual meeting of the association held at Sharna Hotel in Jos.
He emphasized the need for the government at all levels to provide qualitative education for the children of nomads to prevent them from resorting criminality.
According to him, it is through the provision of basic education to the nomadic education in the country, that they can exploit the abandoned resources in there environment and make impact on socio-cultural happenings.
He said it is unfortunate that several children of nomads in the country are forced to take to criminality as a venture despite their talents, ingenuity and contributions to national development.
On her part, the national women leader, Hajia Amina Saidu Naseh from Taraba State, said the government needs to do more in providing social amenities to carter for the Fulanis in the country.
She said it is not true that Fulanis are terrorists as labeled by some people in the Nigerian society, nothing that most of them involved in the act of terrorism, kidnapping and other criminal vices, are those that are vulnerable and are made to do so because of conditions they find themselves.
She said many Fulanis in the country are either killed or rendered homeless in most parts of the country with their cows and sheep rustled away thereby, forcing many of them to resort to criminality or terrorism.
According to her, the situation in the country forced many Fulani families to be criminals or bandits, adding that time has come when all Fulanis in the country most embraced Western nomadic education.
