Chief Judge of Katsina state, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar has said that henceforth, all cases in respect of child abuse will be handled by competent Judges in the state Judiciary. Justice Danladi Abubakar described protection of children against the development as a responsibility of all citizens in the society. Justice Abubakar was speaking in his office while receiving principal officers of Katsina State Children’s Parliament under an organization, Save the Children International (SCI) noted that, women and children are suffering worldwide, hence the need for stakeholders to put more efforts to address the menace which became rampant.
He disclosed that, no fewer than ten sexual harassment cases are recorded in the state daily and as a technical offense it needs circumstantial evidence to punish the culprits. He acknowledged the contributions of the media, Save the Children International (SCI) and UNICEF for protecting the rights of children throughout the world.
Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar assured that Katsina State High Court as an institution would continue to support and strengthen the constitutional law for the betterment of the society.
Speaker of the Katsina State Children’s Parliament, Ibrahim Maharazu expressed gratitude to the state government for the passage of the Child Protection Bill after a long journey of 17 years.
He reiterated the need to put machineries in place for effective implementation of the law and appealed that cases of child abuses of any kind in Katsina State be handled by competent personnel in the judiciary.
