The Vice Chancellor, Federal University Dutse (FUD), Professor Abdulkarim Sabo Mohammed has vowed to make the federal varsity a modern and technically advanced learning institution with international recognition for dynamic and moral society.
Speaking on his maiden press briefing while unveiling his plans of action for the varsity, he stated that the goal is to upgrade the status of the fast growing varsity to that of a modern learning environment capable to competing nationally, and internationally through the introduction of e- learning methods and technologiy.
He also assured of enhancing the quality and competiveness of their graduates to be more competent and innovative through the provision of a conducive environment for learning, as well as boosting community networking services and engagement.
According to him, apart from improvement in administrative and academic policies, his priority will be centred on infrastructural development of the varsity with emphasis on information technology and e-learning, research and development, and tackling students and staff accommodation challenges.
Other areas to accord priority according to him, include strengthening staff welfare through revitalizing of revolving loan and micro financing, establishment of faculties of law and engineering.
According to the VC, they will encourage a healthy staff and student relationship through the introduction of mentoring system for young lecturers and student advisory system for students.
“Similarly, we will.look into the issue of enhancing our internally revenue base through commercialization of the university’s farm, improvement and diversification of commercial activities of the university’s entrepreneurship centre, among others,” he outlined.
