Coalition of Nigerian Civil Society Groups, has observed as a pure political decision and deliberate act of intimidating Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle by advising President Muhammadu Buhari to make Zamfara State a no flight zone by his National Security Adviser (NSA), Major General Babagana Moguno (Rtd).
The coalition explained that, “lt has clearly shown that Major General Babagana Moguno (Rtd), the National Security Adviser has completely lost touch with reality, because up till date Zamfara State has no functional Local or International Airport, but an Airport under construction and the work progress is below 60% completion.
The coalition, in a statement issued by its spokesman, Comrade Abdulsalam Mohd Kazeem, noted that under the present administration, series of mass abduction/kidnapping of Secondary School children have occurred, lamenting that there was no individual (s), in the government circle at state or federal held responsible for failure to secure the innocent citizens.
The statement asked that by making Zamfara state a no flight zone, “Why Zamfara State now? If no sinister plan and political move to swindle the people’s will and choice of leader.”
The coalition noted that, “The NSA is either playing politics with this politically influences and and deliberate intimidation act on the humble personality of Zamfara State Governor, who is obviously not from the ruling party APC at the center, NSA and president Muhammadu Buhari should rather appreciate the effort of the governor who step in to negotiate the release of the kankara school children, an effort made purely to save the president and county face from Shame and international embarrassment without considering political difference and juriduction limit.”

The groups condemned what they described as “this act to castrate and enmansculate the noble intentions of the Governor to govern Zamfara state effectively”.

The statement observed that in a sane society or nation where patriotism, commitment and service delivery to the nation takes the lead, the current National Security Adviser (NSA) and the immidiate past Services Chiefs would have resigned voluntarily without chasing any shadow long ago.
It noted that no flights zone in Zamfara state now is an attempt to declare a state of emergency in the State, being an opposition governing state with just one record of mass abduction while Niger, Katsina, Kaduna, Borno with several records of unimaginable banditry kidnapping and terrorist activities is enjoying non of the treatment melted on Zamfara, saying that the sincerity is lacking hence they reject in its entirety.
The forum passed a vote of no confidence on the National Security Adviser for failing to live up to expectations despite having  spent over five years in the same office and as a retired Major General in Nigerian Army, pointing out that they are disappointed.
The statement explained, “The National Security Adviser should tell Nigerians how and why will a plane fly over our airspace without his consent and that of the Nigerian civil Aviation Authority, can a plane fly secretly without the radar detecting it?”
It observed that the problem on ground is not stopping or declaring no flight zone in only Zamfara state but a practical move on  how to curtail the activities of the herdsmen and bandits that is becoming incessant and unabated despite huge budgetary allocation every year without any meaningful results so far.
It said that the current insecurities in Zamfara State could be trace back to over six years, during the reign of Abdulazeez Yari series of ugly events took place, adding that the current administration of President Buhari/APC did not take such action on the state, just as same treatment was not served to Katsina, Borno, Niger, Benue and Kaduna State where similar activities has become events of the day.
The coalition, therefore, called on the President, National Security Adviser and other security apparatus to as a matter of urgency address the current security challenges across the nation, adding that Nigerians are facing hell in different parts of the country.
